ELIZABETH
SCOTT-TAGGART was born near Croydon in Surrey and trained
at the Central School of Art & Design, and at St. Martin's
School of Art, both in London.
She gained the National Diploma in Design and has shown her work in many exhibitions both locally and in London. She has had two one-man shows at the Century Galleries, Henley-on-Thames, Oxon. Although originally trained as a Theatrical Designer and then as a Painter, she has concentrated mainly on Sculpture, working in a wide range of materials including bronze, ceramics and ciment fondu. For many years she has been occupied with carving - mainly in wood. She enjoys carving for the discipline it imposes in the gradual and systematic uncovering of the object inside the rough mass. The intrinsic beauty of wood is an added bonus and this never fails to delight her. Her favourite subjects are animals and natural forms, such as shells. She often draws at the Natural History Museum in London and at Tring, and also at London Zoo. Examples of her work are widely distributed around the
world. |
